Day 3-Easiest Day!

Good Evening my fellow Bloggers,
Well, today is the last day of our project!! I am relieved for the conclusion to have arrived! This morning, I got an email from my friend adjacent to Phoenix. What a wonderful way to start of your day! Get invited out on vacation!! Yea!! Well, I held myself to my words last night. My friend Jim and I went up to Walmart, earlier this evening. In all honesty, I had forgot about not listening to music. On the way to our homes, it dawned on me-what I wrote last night. I must say, the company of a good, life long friend and your best friend on the phone line, you forget about music. We were laughing and making plans for this next week. I wasn't sure how I would re-act without music, but, it went surprisingly well! I am not sure I could've lasted the whole 3 days..but glad I attempted and put forth effort. I didn't watch the news today and can't remember when I listened to the I-Pod. I still have my addiction problem to Facebook..sorry Mr. Lopez! Without logging on, it feels like you are out of touch or sync with your friends/family. My dad's curiosity for Facebook has expanded. Now, he's wanting to know how to look at people's pictures and locate them. I am hoping to have him converted, soon! However, I do apologize, I haven't been faithful in putting all of the restrictions together at once-but-have followed each of the rule(s) at different times!
This afternoon went well! I got to see my God son, Ryan, for a little bit!! My friend, Felicia, and I spent most of our time watching football. We are self-admitted football junkies. (I LOVE Texas Longhorns and New Orleans Saints). Our time was filled with laughter, anxiety and much anticipation about the ranking/scores of our beloved teams.
On a positive note, Texas one second win against Nebraska and my best friend driving from Louisiana, will make this week great! Hope everyone has a blessed week and best wishes on your finals!
Blessings,
Kelly

Day 2, Dec.5, 2009

Good Evening my fellow Bloggers,
Well, this has been the most interesting day-and may be of this entire project. I can't 'survive' without getting on Facebook or Myspace. However, I've limited the time I get on. The time spent on each social networking site, has been reduced by at least half. As for most of my time spent today, I texted one of my good friends-who is in the class before ours. Melanie was not aware we're allowed to text. So, everyone, we are allowed to text! We aren't permitted getting on Facebook or Myspace via cell phone web. I didn't get to watch the Florida vs Alabama game, as I was shopping. Though, I got home and my parent's were watching that game. I gave in and watched the news. I have a hard time trusting people; especially with such significant events occurring. Later in the evening, my parents and I watched the Texas vs Nebraska game. For the first two quarters, I was with them watching it at home. Later after the half, I was commuting between my house and a friend's house. Fortunately for texting, my friend Corey kept me posted! Texas won with a miracle-Praise God! As for the music, I have been good about not listening to my I-Pod. In fact, it's sitting on the I-Home pad charging. My word was kept, and I have been getting better with Mr. Lopez's guidelines/restrictions. I still haven't mastered not listening to music in the car. I really think I'd lose my mind. Music seems to be a calm and smoothing ease in my life; when life get's stressful. Tomorrow, I will try without music and will let everyone know how it goes. This has been by far the most challenging project. I can't fathom how people from our previous generation survived and still continue to do so. Well, I am signing off. Hope everyone's had a safe weekend-so far! Stay safe and warm!!
Blessings,
Kelly

day 1: to tweet or not to tweet?

Well, today was the big day...My first day without twitter since I joined the fascinating world of tweets...And I have to say, it was tough. Not that it wasn't hard to stop myself from flipping the tv on or playing a movie, or listening to the radio or my favorite holiday cd; and believe me, it was a huge struggle not to log onto facebook, but the simple fact that I couldn't update about what was going on drove me insane.

As soon as I woke up this morning, I posted my last tweet, which updated the other networking profiles I have, and informed the general public about my technological absence for the next seventy-two hours, i also shut off all of the twitter mobile alerts. not having my phone go off every five seconds was surprisingly lonely, ironic in the sense that it was annoying when i first began receiving them, and holding myself back from replying to the numerous texts was rough. i have realized that the largest media influences in my life are: music, texting and twitter (and those networking sites aren't too far behind them).

We'll see how the following days turn out, hopefully it will get easier...well, I can dream right?

I think I'm learning a valuable lesson here though: I can survive without having my phone attached to me, or without tweeting or receiving tweets, or checking facebook every chance I get.

But, just for the record melanie, the withdrawals have already begun...and they're intense.

Day 1, Dec.4, 2009

Good Evening fellow Bloggers,
Well, I have already failed at attempting to be good. Shopping kept my mind occupied for most of this day. I went until 4:50 pm without getting on Facebook. I woke up and jumped up on Myspace. If Mr. Lopez didn't assign this project, I would never know how dependent I am on social networking. However, I have been faithful about the news, and haven't watched any local or national news. My source of news is from mouths of other people and San Antonio Express News. However, I just learned, I can get news from the Wii video game system! Also, I have been faithful and haven't been on Facebook via cell phone. Thank goodness, we are still allowed to text. Otherwise, I think I'd lose my mind! I went to the hospital, Wednesday afternoon. I was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. The medicine prescribed, makes me have real bad mood swings, so while driving I listen to K-Love and it seems to keep my mood in tact. It really boggles my mind, how my dad can spend hours upon hours on email, without logging onto Facebook or Myspace. Our generation is so dependent on keeping up with our friends, family's and applications, it's really astonishing to see how many people can last through the full three days! I am re-challenging myself to see if I can make it from Saturday to Monday. However, Texas is playing Nebraska, so that's my main concern. Tonight, is the first time eating dinner with my parents, in a while. My mom is addicted to ABC World News, so I am planning on eating dinner in my room, to be faithful to the project. Hopefully, by the grace of God, I will be able to accomplish all of Mr. Lopez' tasks tomorrow! I wish everyone a safe weekend and good luck being faithful to this project!
